Who operates this guide
SPARKS OF JAPAN Editorial Team operates this guide as an individual-run publication in Japan. This notice describes the information handled when you browse the guide or contact us.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, the name you provide, your message and attachments. We use them to answer your inquiry, correct published information, discuss partnerships and keep the necessary correspondence. Please do not send passwords, payment card details or identity documents.
Browsing and preferences
Reader accounts and cross-device sync are not offered. Topic books, their names and notes, the date of your daily omikuji, your omikuji encounter book, and daily recommendation history are stored only in this browser using local storage. They are not sent to our database. You can remove saved items or delete a book. Clearing this site’s browser data removes all local books and daily history. Quiz answers stay in the page while you use it. A copied comparison link includes the selected categories in its URL; anyone receiving that link can see those choices. It does not include your name or email address.
Cookies and service providers
With your permission, we use Google Analytics to measure visits, page navigation, scrolls, content use and outbound link clicks using cookies. Analytics does not load before you allow it. You can decline or withdraw permission using Analytics settings in the footer. We do not send search text, quiz answers, book names or notes, email addresses, or URL query strings to Analytics. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled. Your consent choice is saved in this browser. The hosting service provides aggregate visitor and page-view statistics. External product and experience images load from their providers, which receive the requests needed to display them. The services used to deliver and protect this website may process IP addresses, request times, browser information and technical logs. While access is restricted, the hosting service also handles its own access checks. Email inquiries are handled through Gmail. These providers apply their own privacy policies.
External websites
Clicking a booking or shopping link opens an independent provider. That provider handles your booking, payment, shipping and its own cookies. Some links contain an affiliate identifier. Providers may use cookies and similar tools after you follow a link to attribute purchases or bookings. We may receive referral and commission reports, but do not collect your card details. Refer to each provider’s privacy policy.
Use, retention and requests
We do not publish your inquiry or sell your contact information. We limit its use to the purposes above, retain it for as long as necessary to handle the matter, and delete information no longer needed, subject to applicable requirements. For access, correction or deletion requests, contact us below. We may need to verify that the request concerns your information.
